Functions of the Curriculum & Staffing Committee
1. Curriculum
- To advise the governors on statutory responsibilities in relation to the National Curriculum and Religious Education; to deal with any concerns from parents on these matters.
- To provide information to the Governing Body about how the curriculum is taught, monitored, evaluated and resourced.
- To participate in whole-school development planning, monitoring and evaluation, with particular reference to the curriculum, staff development & appraisal, teaching & learning styles and OFSTED inspections.
- To prioritise such planned developments as part of the School Development Plan.
- To agree the school - proposed statutory student performance targets and to present them to the Full Governing Body for ratification.
2. Staffing
- To decide on staffing structures and establishments and, if necessary, to recommend criteria for redundancy.
- To agree Job descriptions, Person specifications and selection procedures for staff appointments. Staff appointment panels will normally include at least one member of this committee.
- To review the school Pay Policy annually for recommendation to the full Governing Body.
- To conduct the annual assessments of teachers’ pay and to review the pay of other staff where appropriate.
Note: Review of the Head teacher’s and Leadership members’ pay will be conducted by a separate Remuneration Committee
- To review and recommend for adoption the procedures for dealing with discipline and grievance, ensuring that the staff are informed of them.
In all the above, the Committee has the delegated power to make decisions, within the agreed limitations, except where statutory requirements necessitate the support of the full Governing Body.
This statement of functions and powers will be reviewed annually.
