The Humanities Faculty consists of the subjects Geography, History and Religious Studies. There are currently ten teachers within the faculty, each a specialist in their own area.
The Humanities Faculty prides itself in being an innovative group of teachers who are committed to providing an exciting and enjoyable learning experience for all students both inside and outside the classroom. At Key Stage 3, Humanities is taught in mixed ability groups in a 'rotation' system whereby students are taught one of the three Humanities subjects in blocks of 6/7 weeks for six lessons a fortnight. After each block of 6/7 weeks each class will move on to the next subject in the rotation.
At GCSE all students take at least one Humanities subject and also follow a course of 'Compulsary Religious Studies' in line with DfES requirements. The faculty has an excellent record of GCSE exam results with 80% gaining a C or higher in Geography; 87% in History and 91% in Religious Education in 2006.
All three Humanities subjects are offered at 'A' Level. Again, the faculty has a very impressive record, both in terms of the numbers opting to take Humanities subjects and the results that they achieve. For more detailed information on our exam results click on the link in the 'sidebar menu'.
