Gifted and Talented

 

We challenge all students all of the time and ensure that every student works to the best of their ability so that each and every one is the best s/he can be.

A rising tide lifts all ships.

Yes Yes Yes

Every faculty ensures that those students who are gifted in a subject are challenged to 'fly even higher' by providing an appropriate learning stimulus. For details of this check out individual faculty pages.

Additionally, various enrichment opportunities are available to students throughout the year.

AXIS Challenge where students work in teams to design and build complex structures. Further information will be made available.

The Blackden Trust where students work in the locality to find out about who lived here previously, excavating the site for evidence. Details to come

Can They Do It

Summer School 2007: Mission Impossible where students, staff and members of the community learn together. Supported by Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School and Astra Zeneca this year's event will be even better than previously.

Gothic Or What

The National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth run many courses on Saturdays throughout the year for students aged 10 -19, as well as residential Summer Schools at Universities designed specifically for students at Key Stages 4 and 5 who are interested in particular areas of study. NAGTY Membership is through school identification. A number of relevant criteria are used including teacher nomination and a range of test scores. Joining NAGTY

 

AS Level Critical Thinking, available to some Year 12 students, has run for its first year and expectations are high. Students have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons which have run between 3.30 and 5pm weekly.
