When I first moved up to the high school I was worried because I only really knew one person and she was put in the other band. However after the first day I knew everyone in my form. I now have 26 new friends.
I’m now approaching the end of Year 7 and I personally feel that moving up to high school has helped my social skills improve.
Good luck in Year 7!

My first week wasn’t that bad because I have a brother in Year 9 and he said that the school is very good at solving problems such as bullying and they don’t let anything go as if nothing happened like some schools do.
When I came to the school I felt small compared to everyone else and I didn’t know where anything was but my friends and older sister helped me around school and I was fine after a couple of weeks. At the end of Year 7 I feel more confident around the school and now I have some FANTASTIC friends.

I was worried at first because I thought I’d get lost but then I got shown around and it was fine. Once a week had passed I was getting into the swing of things. I knew where everything was and all the people and teachers.
I don’t feel that when you come into Year 7 there is anything to worry about as bullying isn’t an issue for most people. No bullies ever get away with anything. I now feel very comfortable in the school and I think everyone else does too.
I felt strange, excited and nervous at first. That is understandable coming to a new school. I got the odd name but I didn’t care. However, on a nicer note, the teachers were helpful, telling me where to go if I got lost. Lessons were great fun as teachers didn’t mind if you were late. As I look back at the start of the year, I wish I was starting again.

I was absolutely terrified on my first day at Holmes Chapel. I hardly knew anyone in my form, The school seemed absolutely huge as well, seeing how my old school only had 70 people in it. I thought getting the bus every morning would be boring but it isn’t. There is always something to talk about and I now know everyone on my bus.

When I was just coming into this school, I was really nervous about getting lost and whether all the people, the teachers, the students would be nice. Now I can find my way around like the back of my hand and absolutely know everyone is kind and nice. This school is wicked!
I was nervous when I first came to school because I had no friends and people teased me about my hair colour. Sometimes I would get upset and go and see Miss Gamwell and she would sort things out.
I was worried I’d get lost and that other pupils from other schools would be mean but now lots of people that were at different primary schools are my best friends and I’m even enjoying some of my classes. When I first came my older sister was in a different tutor group than her best friend like me and mine but we see each other every lunch and break so nothing much has changed! I really enjoy this school but of course there’s LOTS of homework!

This school is great. When I first came I was extremely nervous and scared. I just moved primary school 1 term before I came here so I didn’t know very many people but everybody made me feel welcome. As soon as I came the lessons were good and exciting. When we went to Menai I made loads more friends and when I got back I knew everybody in Year 7. That’s alot! Now that the children are coming and we’re moving up into Year 8 I want to meet and greet all the new Year 7’s.
So don’t be afraid to make new friends, enjoy your lessons and have a good time!

When I came I was a tiny bit worried but that’s natural. I’m now fine. I do feel a bit exhausted after a year but it’s because of exciting lessons. Sometimes I think I’m being bullied but it is usually just a misunderstanding. Despite all this I’ve enjoyed my year to the max and I say it is a great time each and everyday. A quick note, being yourself is the thing to do to be happy at school.
