Student Opportunities

 

Holmes Chapel Sixth Form Centre prides itself on being more than just a means of obtaining excellent AS/A level results. Students are offered a range of opportunities to ensure enjoyment of post 16 education, as well as to develop the skills that will equip students for life, both personally and professionally. These opportunities cater for a variety of personalities and interests so that, should students choose to, there should be something for everyone. The opportunities available are expanding all the time.

 

Sixth Form Student Leadership Team (SFSLT)

These roles are many and varied and tend to evolve depending on the personalities of that particular team. You could be a Pastoral Prefect! This would include:

 

• Being seen in a leadership role by students in their respective year group and being available if needed as a point of liaison
• Reporting student views to governors
• Helping develop a ‘buddying’ scheme for victims of bullying
• Communicating Sixth Form Developments to lower year groups
• Management of Lower School Student Councils
• Representing the school at ‘student voice’ county events
• Leading lower school teams and clubs
• Working as a classroom assistant
• Mentoring younger students

Alternatively you could work exclusively in the Sixth Form as a Sixth Form Student Leader doing things such as:

• Organisation of charity events

• Organising Sixth Form Social Events
• Managing the use and development of Sixth Form Common Areas
• Running Sixth Form Council
• Marketing the Sixth Form in local newspapers and the community

 

Being a member of a college attached to a school allows you to develop skills as a Student Leader, making this a real opportunity
